7 Key Steps to Deliverance
78
Anyone who has ever realistically seen their vision through to a successful reality has aspired to the 7 Key Steps to Deliverance. Even from a secular standpoint, each step marks a decided step up the ladder from poverty to prosperity. From the Pit to the Palace. From a life of imprisonment to spiritual freedom. What is it that has you bound up? What is it that is keeping you in that place where you remain on the treadmill of just surviving within your circumstances? Do not allow yourself to be society's punk. Learn how to be a respected and knowledgeable positive force and not be pushed away or overcome by those who don't want to see you succeed. Consider strongly Jeremiah 1:6-9. Become more than a conqueror.
The secondary purpose for the 7 Key Steps to Deliverance has everything to do with turning your circumstances around. As you’ll see, Blind Bartimaeus was on the roadside begging. Something he had become accustomed to doing in order to survive. There came a time, however, when the decision was made. Time to get off the curb and turn things around. We all find ourselves at this point throughout life. A vision for the miracles, blessing and healing ready to come your way? God knows when you are ready to accept Him.
Mark 10:46-52 is the foundation scripture for the most powerful steps you'll ever take in getting yourself or someone you love to get up and turn it around. Now.
(1) Own your situation. Bartimaeus didn't blameshift. He knew the situation he was in and that it was his to solve. As a blind beggar, he was unable to elevate his position in life. He was in a place where he had to rely on the goodwill of strangers. Whether you are in the position you're in because of what you or someone else did, it is on you to get out of that pit whether it be drugs, poverty or homelessness. Perhaps you're where you are because you don't have the skills for a better job. You're either stuck in a minimum wage job or unemployed. Either way, you need to get out of the pit. Blindness was the pit Bartimaeus needed to get out of. (Mark 10:46). Now, do we look at this as physical or spiritual blindness?
(2) Know your salvation. (Mark 10:47) "And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me." Bartimaeus knew his situation. Most importantly, he knew where to go for deliverance. Jesus. He knew Jesus was his only hope. Today, the pits we find ourselves in don't have to be permanent. Just like Bartimaeus, we need to know where to go to be delivered out of that pit. Poverty? Homelessness? Drug addiction? Alcohol? Bad credit?
(3) Rebuke the negativity! (Mark 10:48) "And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, thou son of David, have mercy on me." Nobody was holding Bartimaeus back from his miracle. His dream of having his sight. It was too important. It was everything to him. Sound familiar? Ignore those who tell you it can't be done. Rebuke and forget those who try to keep you down. This is your life and your deliverance. Who are they to even try to hold you back? "but he cried the more a great deal, thou son of David, have mercy on me." Just how important is it?
(4) Don't Procrastinate Every day we make excuses. Show me someone good for excuses and we'll show you someone good for little else. Bartimaeus knew that when Jesus and His Disciples were walking right by him on the road to Jericho where Bartimaeus was begging. He had to act now! Procrastination is one of Satan's tricks to keep us down. God never meant for us to be poor and in trouble. Step all over that spirit of laziness and procrastination. It is time for that dream and vision of healing and success you've been sitting on to become reality.
(5) Do something bold and dramatic! (Mark 10:49) "And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort. Cheer up and rise; He calleth thee." If you're a parent, you know the many sounds your children make. The cries of happiness, playtime and laughter. There is that one cry that makes you drop everything and rush to their side. It is that desperate call for help. It is just that call Jesus heard from Bartimaeus. (Mark 10:50) "And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus." Bartimaeus, like us, needed to get rid of anything that would stop or slow him down on the journey to deliverance. Perhaps he might've tripped on his garment had he not gotten rid of it. He wasn't going to take that chance. Are you willing to gamble with your future more than you already have? Trash the past and clear an open path for your deliverance. You may even find it might be a close friend or family member who you must toss aside. It is your deliverance. Your miracle. Your healing.
(6) Be specific with your needs! God is a God of specifics. When we pray, we need to ask Him for exactly what we need. Get specific. Bartimaeus wasn't generalizing. (Mark 10:51) "And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto Him, Lord that I might receive my sight." He knew exactly what he needed and wasn't afraid to reach out for it. The spirit of fear has no place in the heart of a winner! When your children ask why the electricity was turned off or why there's no food on the table, you'll know what to do. Get specific and don't procrastinate.
(7) Have faith and do it now! (Mark 10:52) "And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made you whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way." Bartimaeus had faith in that Jesus could heal and deliver him. That faith is what motivated him that day on the road to Jericho. He saw his only chance and kept the momentum going to obtain his healing and deliverance!

Powerful Hub. I need this. Sometimes when I cry out to Jesus, I don't even know what it is that I am crying out for, other than I know I need His power and grace to live, and to walk in holiness and love. It seems to me that I am missing this power, and oh how I know I need it. When I read the gospels, or the Acts of the Apostles or the early Church, I am convicted by my lack of power to walk in His strength and holiness, His humility and gentleness. Where is it today? What's happened to it? I know there is no "magic" mantra or potion or words, I can't make the Holy Spirit reveal Himself to me, but I seek, I read, I cry out, I show the emptiness of my soul to my Savior to fill.
Blind Bartemaeus' cry is the cry of my heart.
Seeking desperately
